03 December 2024
On the weekend of 6-8 December, the Formula 1 circus has its last Grand Prix of the season, with the Abu Dhabi GP in the United Arab Emirates. That’s one last chance before the 2025 season to show off your prediction skills! If you’re in need of a few pointers, we’ve got you covered as usual: here’s all you need to know in a quick preview article.
Most likely to win: Max Verstappen/Lando Norris
Verstappen has proven unbeatable at the Yas Marina Circuit: he’s won the last four GP’s here, and holds the record for the fastest lap. A fifth consecutive victory here would cement a stellar season for the Dutchman, but he’ll have, once more, Lando Norris to deal with. The only man to have been of any threat to Verstappen this season, Norris will fight tooth and nail for this last prize.
Most likely to win: McLaren
McLaren proved the most consistent constructor this season: it’s leading the ranking with 640 points, and was the clear favorite in all recent races in the constructor standings – and rightly so. There’s little doubt that McLaren will win this year’s constructor’s championship, denying Red Bull Racing a third consecutive title. Ferrari to win Abu Dhabi is an outside option, if you like the risk.
The Yas Marina Circuit was opened in 2009, and hosted its first GP that very same year. The track is famous for its daring architectural design, which includes a five-star hotel above the track. It measures 5.281 km, with a 1.14 km straight, and 16 turns, for a total race distance of 306.183 km across 58 laps. Due to its specific, high-level grip surface, the track is highly acclaimed by drivers.
