More recently, at EURO 2012, Germany won its group with a 2-1 win against the Danes. This just goes to show how much contested football history there is between these neighbouring countries. It’s hard to predict what the next chapter in this history will be.

EURO 2024 host nation Germany qualified for the round of 16 after beating Scotland (5-1) and Hungary (2-0). The 1-1 draw against Switzerland on the last day of the group stage proved that the Germans don’t always win in the end. Heading into this next encounter, young guns Musiala and Wirtz are expected to display their talents once more.
