In the inaugural game on Friday, 14 June, the Germans thrashed the Scots: 5-1, as the law of jungle dictates. Their 19 June performance against Switzerland was more indicative of what the Scots are actually capable of.

It should be noted that even though they have 2 goals so far, both of them were own goals. Despite just having 1 point, their 19 June 1-1 result against Switzerland is a tenuous lifeline. It will take Scotland the victory of a lifetime to push through.

Having lost both of its games so far (1-3 against Switzerland and 2-0 against Germany), Hungary’s chances of making it to the next round are slim to none. By beating Scotland in its last group phase game in Group A, Hungary can become third, but from that position, it would need a formidable goal difference to become one of the 4 best thirds.
