JPL 2024-2025: Ready for another roller coaster?

Merely two weeks after the EURO 2024 final, the Pro League is upon us once again. As we prepare for the kick-off, let's dive into the pressing questions on everyone’s mind. Who will reach the Champions Play-offs? Will this season outdo the last in terms of excitement and unpredictability? Who are the (semi-)usual suspects for the Champions Play-offs?

First, let’s talk about the big guns. Will Anderlecht finally reclaim their former glory, or will Club Brugge crown themselves champion once again? Is Union able to keep up after, again, having to say goodbye to their star players and T1? And will Antwerp bounce back to the ultimate top?

Club Brugge might seem like a safe bet. But in football, nothing is ever certain, not even in the JPL. After all, not many would have expected Cercle reaching the Champion’s Play-offs. And remember last season’s nail-biting finish? So buckle up, because we might be in for more of the same.

What about the managerial merry-go-round?

What would the JPL be without a few new faces on the sidelines. Several teams (RC Genk, AA Gent, Antwerp, Union) have welcomed new managers, and with them come new tactics, new philosophies, and, possibly, new headaches.

Each new manager comes with a suitcase full of strategies and a head full of dreams. Whether they can translate that into success on the pitch is the million-dollar question.

Making predictions in the JPL is like trying to forecast the weather in Belgium – good luck with that. But let’s give it a go anyway:

• Dark horses: Watch out for Standard Liège and Gent. They might just surprise us all.
